SEVEN UNCTIONED TO FUNCTION

As it had been the religious practice of old for those that responded to the biding of God were anointed, a sacred ritual before the official commencement of duty, Mid-Central and Green View Ghana Conferences advanced six and one gospel ministers respectively for ordination. On Saturday 24th October, 2020, Pastor Albert Mensah,  the District Pastor of Barekese, Pastor Isaac Afriyie, the District Pastor of Kodie, Pastor Fred Opoku Agyemang, the District Pastor of  Namong, Pastor Frank Amponsah Boateng, the District Pastor of Maakro, Pastor Ebenezer Owusu Banahene, the District Pastor of Abofour and Pastor Stephenson Yaw Baafi, the District Pastor of Achiase, all six ordinants were presented from the Mid-Central Ghana Conference whilst Pastor Stephen Osei was also presented from the Green View Ghana Conference. This Ordination Service which was organized at the premise of the Nkontwima Seventh-day Adventist Church, under the auspices of the Mid-Central Ghana Conference administration was the second of its kind in the history of the above mentioned Conference since its inception. In this Spiritual convocation, Pastor AP Mensah, a retired minister of the gospel delivered the sermon for the service. In his sermon, he admonished the ordinants that whosoever professes to have the responsibility of God’s calling needs to beware, for Satan in his numerous deceptive schemes seeks to destroy the Church of God. In expounding and reiterating his point by quoting the Apostle Paul from the book of 2 Timothy, Chapter 2, verses 14 on, he urged all Church leaders, especially the newly ordained ministers to be careful of the Evil One and do their best to always present themselves to God as leaders approved, workers who do not need to be ashamed, that shun profanity and ungodliness in order not to overthrow their faith. After this admonition, the ordinants were laid hands on by officials and other ordained ministers for ordination prayer. Next, the newly ordained ministers were commissioned to their duties after they had been charged to office by Pastor Dr. Kwame Kwanin Boakye, the President of Northern Ghana Union Mission. It was a very grandeur an occasion since it brought all the officers of the two Unions and all the Conferences together.

BUILD A LAMB SHELTER, SAVE A CLASSROOM CHURCH

COVID-19 which has paralysed the global economy and left the world’s societies in a poverty stricken state not only has it devastated the financial segment of the world.

The power of COVID-19 as a matter of fact has left no stone unturned by stripping naked the superiority of the world powers, the mystery of improved health communities and struck dead the spiritual tenacity of the global religious denominations and their so called men of God. It is in this condition that churches that congregate in school classrooms are disallowed to worship not even when churches reopened. The continuous adherence of this COVID-19 protocol by nature could extinct some of our churches that worship under trees and classrooms.

On Sunday 16th of August, 2020 the administration of the Mid-Central Ghana Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church in collaboration with the Executive Committee met all Elders within the Conference to find a solution to this problem at the Bantama SDA Church premises.

A greater number of about two hundred (200) participants were addressed by Pastor Osei Kofi, the President of the Conference on the earlier stated burden of the conference. He recounted the harm that COVID-19 had inflicted on the conference by disallowing about forty (40) of our churches that worship in classrooms and need to be saved from breaking apart.

He appealed to the gathering that to whisk our forty or more classroom churches from this danger, churches and districts should scarifies their 10% usual evangelism fund towards the provision of “Lamb Shelter” structures for these dying churches. The idea was quickly accepted when a motion came up for that purpose. A mind-blowing act that was later displayed by the gathering of Elders was a quick donation for that purpose as seed money or fund which yielded three thousand, one hundred and thirty-six Ghana Cedis (GH3,136.00) including pledges by all after the votes was to be used to hit the ground running.

Finally, it was announced that all were invited, individually or cooperate bodies could donate or offer something, small or big towards saving the 40 dying churches. An MTN MOMO account number (059 585 8012) was given by the treasurer for concerned church and non-church members through which donation could reach the Mid-Central Ghana Conference for the said idea.

Please, help save these 40 churches as the Lord bids as to
