MID-CENTRAL GHANA CONFERENCE

HISTORY

Mid-Central Ghana Conference (MICG) started as a field unit in July 2014 after the re-organization of Central Ghana Conference into three; Central Ghana Conference, Mid-Central Ghana Conference and Mountain View Ghana Conference.

This Unit operated under the leadership of Pastor Seth Kwasi Asiedu as Director, Pastor Ronald Ohene Boateng as under Secretary and Elder Samuel Kutin as under Treasurer for six months.

Geographical Area

The MICG is temporary headquartered at Kwadaso, Kumasi. It begins from Bantama to Akomadan Districts of SDA, also stretches through the Abrepo-Barekese road. The territory is predominately of urban settlement. Politically it occupies three administrative assemblies, Part of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Offinso Municipal Assembly, Offinso North District Assembly and Sekyere Afigya Kabre.

The field unit gained its conference status at the first constituency meeting at Adventist Girls Senior High School, Ntonso together with Mountain View Ghana Conference on December 29, 2014 to January 3, 2015. The three directors were confirmed, Pastor Seth Kwasi Asiedu as President, the Pastor Ronald Ohene Boateng as Executive Secretary and Elder Samuel Kutin as Treasurer. At the session, the name Golden Gate was adopted but later changed to Mid-Central Ghana Conference by the Executive Committee. The conference was inaugurated on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at State boys Park, Bantama.

The conference suffered some predicaments, The Executive Secretary; the Pastor Ronald Ohene Boateng passed away on April 30, 2016. The Treasurer, Elder Samuel Kutin also resigned from his post on health grounds according to his resignation letter. Pastor Acheampong Richard Amponsah who was then the Publishing Director of the conference was elected as the Executive Secretary and Elder Stephen Nketsia, who was the Associate Treasurer of Northern Ghana Union Mission (NOGH), was elected as the Treasurer for Mid-Central Ghana Conference by a special session organized by NOGH officers and the MICG Executive Committee.

Growth

Mid-Central began with twelve (12) districts comprising of fifty-seven (57) organized churches and forty-one (41) companies with a total membership of 17688. Currently, the conference can boast of nineteen (19) districts with seventy-nine (79) organized and fifty (50) companies with a total membership of 21568.

The workforce is thirty-six (36); twenty-four (24) pastors, eleven (11) none ministerials and one (1) part-time. MICG is blessed with four (4) institutions namely, SDA Hospital, Namong, SDA Hospital, Bremang, SDA Clinic, Anyinasusu and Senior High School, Bantama.

Infrastructure

A befitting office complex block is has been built and occupied but yet to be fully completed.
